In April 2012, COERR Surin Field Office joined 3 sub-district administrative organizations in celebrating the Family and Elderly Day to 3,600 elderly in the following 3 sub-districts of Surin Provinces:

At Tatum Sub-district in Sangkha District of Surin Province, there have been six villages where the elderly day was held in separate occasions. COERR Surin also joined each village in celebrating their ceremony for the elderly with the activities similar to those held at sub-district level, such as water – pouring in which the elders will bless the youngers for their prosperity, and to bless for the village development. This ceremony which brings the elders and the youngers closer has been performed for many generations and will continue in the future.
